Thank you for coming

We wrote this song from a poem called “Thank you for coming,” which Sarah wrote to welcome all refugees coming to Belgium. On this Monday afternoon visit to the asylum center, we were joined by an Italian expat who was interested in learning more about our poetry and songwriting sessions. A young woman at the center shared her voice to help us find a melody for the song, which took on a bluesy feel.

We reshaped the words to this poem to celebrate our friend Mohammed’s family arriving in Belgium.
