You are always here with me

We wrote this song on a grey, brisk, and windy Monday afternoon at the Fedasil Arrival Center in Brussels, Belgium. The beginning lyrics were spoken words from a father about the pain of being separated from his children for three years as he searches for a country in the EU that will grant him asylum so he can bring his family to safety.

I suggested we could write a song to send to his children and asked him what he might like to say to them. He was so overcome by emotion that he began to weep and had to leave. We wrote and recorded the song and asked another resident if they could share it with him.
